There’s this old song that talks about summertime and the living being easy. There is something about summer that, similar to Christmas, just brightens the spirit. The smell of BBQ’d steak on the grill, a cool breeze blowing through the window at night and lounging on the beach. These are a few of my favourite things. One thing we love to do as a family is getting outside to go for walks. Last summer it was nearly every day. We’d strap the kids in their car seats, secure them to their stroller and away we’d go. We were limited to where we could go but one place where we always seemed to end up was near some water. Now, in our town, that’s not that difficult but there’s nothing like being at the beach on a hot day, am I right?

Well, it’s been a few months and a long winter since we’ve been able to get out with them, with the exception of a few chance occasions where we took them to the park and played on the swings. Seeing as they’re older now, we couldn’t exactly put them in their stroller and walk around, what I mean is we couldn’t (and didn’t want to) just keep them in their stroller all the time. They needed to be free, explore their surroundings, fall on the ground (even though it pains me so) and just be, kids!

This all sounded great until Thalita and I got back home with them drenched in sweat from chasing them all over the place. Bringing two toddlers to the park is no joke and those kids are FAST. When did they get so fast? They want to run and climb on everything and of course, if you turn your back for more than 4 seconds you’re likely to lose one of them. Thalita later put out a post on her Instagram asking other parents how they ever sorted out bringing kids this young to the park without doing a full out cardio routine. No one was relaxing during these outings anymore and though we’re enjoying this busy time with the boys it was turning into a lot of work.

We started looking for a solution to our dilemma and came across the TwinGo carrier on Instagram and immediately knew that this was something we needed. Don’t have twins? Don’t let the name fool you. Though it was designed by twin parents the baby carrier is built to carry a toddler as well as a newborn.

As the name describes, it has twin carriers, one on the back and one on the front. They are fully adjustable to fit securely a child from 10-70 lbs! What also makes this carrier a must-have is that fact that they can be disconnected and worn as two separate carriers, one for each parent. We have the TwinGo Original Model and love it! Check out the different models.

We’ve tried different combinations, both on me, one on my back one on Thalita’s back and both on our fronts. We found that with having them front and back it creates a great balance and you can literally go for hours without getting tired. Great for trips to the mall or long walks. Wearing one on the back is also a great option and is reminiscent of grade school and wearing a backpack every day. The front configuration is my least favourite and caused some discomfort in my back, but that’s only because my kids are huge now and are probably better suited to be worn on the back. Needless to say, the front carrier made for a great core workout. We’d recommend using this fitting on its own only if you have smaller children.

Like anything you try for the first time, it can take some getting used to. One thing that TwinGo is great about is customer service and they provided a VERY thorough set of fitting and configuration instructions to help get us going. Want to take a closer look? Click here. Oh and I almost forgot, each carrier comes with its own storage pouch that is attached to the carrier so all you need to do it fold it up and flip it in on itself to zip it away between uses. It’s seriously so easy. On their site, you can choose between a “lite” model which doesn’t have the pouch up to a newborn bundle that gives you everything you need to fit your newborn into the carrier and still have it “grow” as they get bigger.

We’ve taken the boys out with the carriers a bunch already and it has made long walks and trips to IKEA so much more enjoyable because 1. I know where my kids are at all times and 2. we can now shop, skip rocks and take our precious selfies hands-free! Well, sort of, cause obviously we need our hands to shop, skip rocks and take selfies, but you know what I mean. The best part, the boys LOVE them. Luca almost fell asleep in it the other day. If you’re an active family, love being outdoors or just need another set of hands when you’re out with the kids, then you definitely want to check out this carrier. Unlike other carriers, you’re getting two for the price of one. Make the financially responsible decision.

Now here’s your chance to try one of these for yourself! That’s an awesome post. Very insightful. I actually recently found out about the twingo carrier through you and was looking into it. It’s kind of on the expensive side compared to the single carriers that we got off Amazon but the way you describe it, it really seems like it’s well worth it. And if I win this would be even more so haha. Looking forward to the first summer with the twinsies is with plenty of family outings.
